What locals recommended I try in Jamshedpur and why they were right

I visited Jamshedpur having made a list of places to visit. I felt quite confident about my planning. Still, in the course of my travels, I happened to interact with a lot of locals. They recommended some places to visit, many of which I had not added to my list. I decided to take their advice, and it was the best decision I made.

Jubilee Park was worth exploring in Jamshedpur

Almost everyone I met warned me against hurrying up while exploring Jubilee Park. At first, I did not understand why they thought so, but they proved to be right.

I spent almost half a day there wandering around the place, which I would have never done if not for those kind locals. I could see people going for walks, children enjoying the rides, the walking tracks damp from the previous night’s rain, and the gardens full of fresh flowers. I took photos, of course, but I think I enjoyed this beautiful scenery much more than I would have if I hurried to see other places. It is a great idea to visit Jubilee Park early in the morning.

Jamshedpur’s Dimna Lake became my favourite stop

I am indeed glad I took their advice. Driving there was enjoyable, and seeing the lake covered with mist was breathtaking. A gentle breeze kept the temperature just right, and I enjoyed strolling at the lakefront, being absolutely alone. Many tourists drive there and spend only a few minutes looking at the scenery, but I stayed for a very long time, simply observing. That was a great experience, maybe the best one among many.

Planning early gave me more time to explore Jamshedpur

Before leaving for the trip, I had already booked my stay, which made everything much easier. Since I had chosen one of the hotels in Jamshedpur before arriving, I checked in quickly and started exploring without wasting time looking for accommodation. The time I saved was precious because it allowed me to explore the city at a leisurely pace. I visited Jubilee Park and, later in the morning, Dimna Lake. 

Jamshedpur’s local food recommendations were memorable

One evening, a shopkeeper told me what I could eat there. He said the best thing to try was some simple vegetarian dishes of local cuisine. First, I had kachori with aloo curry for breakfast. Then, I tried dal, steamed rice, vegetable curry, and chokha for lunch. In the evening, I tasted litti with roasted tomato chutney, followed by jalebi (a local fried sweet) and tea. All the food was delicious, and I was amazed by how good simple dishes could be.

I was glad I visited Jamshedpur’s Hudco Lake

Hudco Lake was not on my list, but I decided to visit it anyway as I had plenty of free time. Again, I enjoyed the walk immensely. People walked around the lake’s perimeter in the evenings. I watched them doing so from the shore, listening to the birds flying above the lake. It was a very enjoyable walk, though I would not call it busy. I think it’s best to come there in the evenings to feel the local flavour.

The locals gave me the best advice on what to do in Jamshedpur

They recommended lots of interesting places, most of which I would have never visited if not for them. The time I saved by choosing the hotel in advance allowed me to spend more time in places I enjoyed. I was amazed by the beauty of Jubilee Park, watched the scenery while driving to Dimna Lake, and had an unforgettable walk around Hudco Lake. I also tried some simple local dishes that were surprisingly amazing. All in all, Jamshedpur gave me quite an impressive experience, and I think my next visit will be no different because those locals truly knew what they were talking about.
