Fab class! See who’s entering the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 2022
Detroit — Chris Webber, arguably the 2nd-most effective basketball participant to appear from Michigan, will headline a star-studded course for the Michigan Sporting activities Hall of Fame.
Webber, who starred at Detroit State Working day and led Michigan’s fabled Fab 5 before going on to a Hall-of-Fame specialist vocation, is a single of eight inductees for the Class of 2022. Webber will be joined by by fellow amateur inductees Meryl Davis and Charlie White, and Jennie Ritter Antonio Gates from the skilled category John Beilein in the coach’s category and Mickey Redmond in the media group.
Longtime Western Michigan athletic director Kathy Beauregard, who retired late in 2021, also will be enshrined in the contributor group,
The Class of 2022 will be joined by two holdovers who were not able to go to last year’s ceremony — former Piston Chauncey Billups and another previous Nation Working day standout, Shane Battier.
“This year’s course represents the excellence, variety and depth of the finest of Michigan sporting activities background,” Scott Leshler, Hall of Fame chairman, claimed in saying the class Thursday night.
The course was publicly announced on Bally Sports Detroit through the Tigers’ pregame clearly show.
The course was finalized in a multi-system vote — a small job force comprised of journalists, sports executives and other community dignitaries compiled the ballot and its vote was weighted most weighted next was a statewide election committee comprised of journalists and weighted 3rd was the public vote, which drew almost 4,000 votes. The 2022 Michigan Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony will be Saturday, Sept. 10, at MotorCity On line casino Hotel’s Audio Board Theater. Tickets will begin at $25, and are accessible at michigansportshof.org.
