US Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz reported dozens of on-responsibility and off-duty agents responded to the shooting in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday, adding that as quickly as officers arrived, “they did not hesitate.”
“We responded from numerous areas. I experienced equally on-obligation, off-obligation, folks that had been in a teaching atmosphere all responded to this spot,” Ortiz explained, introducing involving 80-100 officers responded.
“They did not be reluctant. They arrived up with a prepare. They entered that classroom and they took treatment of the situation as promptly as they possibly could,” Ortiz informed CNN’s Anderson Cooper.
Amid all those who responded were being associates of the Border Patrol Tactical Unit, or BORTAC, which is a specialised device built up of extremely experienced officers that respond to “emergent and large-hazard incidents,” according to the company.
Just one agent was injured and has because been released from the clinic.

Border Patrol will take part in the investigation, presented its involvement.
Previously Wednesday, Main Jason Owens, who heads the Del Rio sector for Border Patrol, told CNN’s Mark Morales that the uniforms of the agents who responded to the scene ended up “lined in blood.”
“I took my brokers again to the Uvalde station. I experienced to bring new uniforms for them to alter into. US Customs and Border Safety has a huge presence in Uvalde, which is located about 60 miles from the Texas-Mexico border. Some agents experienced household members who attended the university, according to Owens.
“I had agents that ended up responding to this scene that experienced young ones in there that they did not know ended up okay or not. We had a few that have been impacted by this. And we had one agent that missing a granddaughter, we experienced some others that shed extended household members,” Owens mentioned.
